Crochet Cable Socks

Materials:

  • Sock yarn (Patton's Croissant yarn is used in the tutorial)
  • Very small crochet hook
  • Stitch marker

Abbreviations:

  • MR: Magic ring
  • ch: Chain
  • sc: Single crochet
  • hdc: Half double crochet
  • dc: Double crochet
  • fpdc: Front post double crochet
  • fptc: Front post treble crochet

Toe Section:

Round 1:

Make a MR and ch 1. Work 10 sc into the MR. Pull the working yarn through the MR to cinch it up and secure it.

Round 2:

  • sc in the next sc, mark this stitch as the first stitch of the round, sc in the next 9 sc.

Round 3:

  • Increase all stitches. sc in the first sc, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat around.

For Round 4:

  • sc in each sc around.
  • Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until you have worked 12 rounds total.

Round 13:

  • Work from the wrong side of your work. sc in each sc around.

Cable Section:

Round 1:

  • ch 1, sc in the first sc.

Round 2:

  • Skip the first 2 sc, hdc around the next 2 sc, skip the next 2 sc, sc in the next 2 sc.

For Round 3:

  • ch 1, skip the first 2 sc, fptc around the next 2 sc, skip the next 2 sc, fptc around the next 2 sc, skip the next 4 sc, sc in the next 2 sc.

Round 4:

  • ch 1, sc in each sc around.
  • Repeat rounds 3 and 4 for the desired length of the cable section.

Heel Section:

Round 1:

  • Skip the first 24 sc, ch 1, turn, skip the first 24 sc, sc in each sc around.

Round 2:

  • sc in each sc around.

For Round 3:

  • Decrease 2 stitches. sc in the first sc, skip the next sc, sc in the next sc, repeat around.

Round 4:

  • sc in each sc around.
  • Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until you have decreased all stitches.

Brim:

Round 1:

  • ch 1, fpdc in the first sc, skip the next sc, bpdc in the next sc, repeat around.

For Round 2:

  • ch 1, sc in each sc around.
  • Repeat rounds 1 and 2 for the desired length of the brim.

Assembly:

  • Sew the heel together from the inside.
  • Weave in any loose ends.
