Materials Needed:
- 4 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
- Darning needle
- Scrap yarn or any yarn of your choice
Pattern
Base Construction:
- Start with a slip knot.
- Chain 33 stitches loosely to make the foundation chain.
- Turn the chain to work on the side that shows the bumps.
- Single Crochet (SC) into the second chain from the hook (the bumps backside of your chain).
- Place a stitch marker on the first SC.
- Continue SC until you reach the end of the row; you should have 32 SC.
- Chain 1 and turn your work.
- Single crochet into every stitch across for the next row.
- Repeat the SC and Chain 1 turn for a total of 54 rows.
Border Construction:
- After completing the 54 rows, start a single crochet border around the entire piece.
- Space the SCs evenly along the sides; the exact number isn’t crucial, but aim for two SCs per "rectangle" or row end.
- Slip stitch into the first SC of the border to close it.
- Cut the yarn and change colors if desired for an additional border round.
Heart Pocket (and other motifs):
- Create a slip knot and chain 18.
- Following a tapestry crochet technique (see video description links for graphs), create your motif. For the heart pocket, you will work to create a 17 stitches wide heart.
- After completing the motif, do not cut the yarn; use it to SC a border around the motif.
Stitch Marker Wall:
- Make a slip knot and chain 19.
- Turn the chain and SC into the second chain from the hook; continue SC to the end for a total of 18 SCs.
- Continue making 6 rows of 18 SCs.
- Add a SC border around this rectangle.
Assembly and Finishing Touches:
- Sew the heart pocket and any other motifs onto the main body of the case, ensuring accurate placement based on the project fold.
- Create loops or threads for stitch markers on the stitch marker wall by weaving the yarn through in specific patterns (e.g., skip 3 SC, insert through the next, continue this pattern).
- Weave in all ends securely.
