Materials:

  • Any type of yarn (old sweaters can be repurposed)
  • Crochet hook (size 9 used in the example)

Base Construction:

Chain:

  • Create a chain of 141 stitches.

First Row:

  • Skip 2 chains.
  • Double crochet in the third chain.
  • Chain 2.
  • Skip 2 chains.
  • Repeat from to the end of the row.

Second Row:

  • Chain 5.
  • Turn the work.
  • Double crochet in the first stitch.
  • Chain 2.
  • Double crochet in the next stitch.
  • Repeat from to the end of the row.
  • In the last stitch, double crochet in the top of the turning chain.
  • Double crochet in the third chain of the starting chain-5.

Subsequent Rows:

  • Repeat the steps for the second row to create the desired number of rows for your desired size.
