Crochet Plant Hanger
Materials:
- Double knitting yarn (acrylic)
- 5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
Instructions:
Magic Ring & Round 1:
- Make a magic ring.
- Chain 2 (does not count as a stitch).
- Crochet 12 double crochets into the magic ring.
- Use US crochet terms (not UK terms).
- Slip stitch into the first double crochet stitch to join.
Round 2:
- Chain 2 (start of every round).
- Increase by placing 2 double crochets into each stitch around.
- You should have 24 double crochets by the end of this round.
- Slip stitch to join.
For Round 3:
- Chain 2.
- Crochet 2 double crochets in the first stitch, then 1 double crochet in the next.
- Repeat around to get a total of 36 stitches.
- Slip stitch to join.
Round 4:
- Chain 2.
- Crochet 2 double crochets in the first stitch, then 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches.
- Repeat around to get a total of 48 stitches.
- Slip stitch to join.
Round 5:
- Chain 1.
- Crochet 1 single crochet in each stitch around, maintaining 48 stitches.
- Slip stitch to join.
Creating Loops:
- Chain 20.
- Count 7 stitches, skip them, and slip stitch into the 8th stitch to form a loop.
- Repeat the process to create 6 loops around.
Connecting Loops:
- After finishing the 6 loops, slip stitch into the base stitch where you started chaining.
Adding New Yarn & More Loops:
- Pick any loop and attach new yarn.
- Make sure loops are centered and not skewed.
- Make 4 single crochets on the top of each loop to connect them.
- Continue around for 48 stitches.
Next Rounds:
- After finishing the loops and connecting them, perform another round of 48 single crochets.
- Follow with a round of 48 double crochets.
- Do not tighten the slip stitch at the end of this round as you'll need it open for later.
Creating Waves for the Strap:
- Perform 10 slip stitches followed by 5 half double crochets in the next stitch for a wave peak.
