Materials:

  • Double knitting yarn (acrylic)
  • 5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Instructions:

Magic Ring & Round 1:

  • Make a magic ring.
  • Chain 2 (does not count as a stitch).
  • Crochet 12 double crochets into the magic ring.
  • Use US crochet terms (not UK terms).
  • Slip stitch into the first double crochet stitch to join.

Round 2:

  • Chain 2 (start of every round).
  • Increase by placing 2 double crochets into each stitch around.
  • You should have 24 double crochets by the end of this round.
  • Slip stitch to join.

For Round 3:

  • Chain 2.
  • Crochet 2 double crochets in the first stitch, then 1 double crochet in the next.
  • Repeat around to get a total of 36 stitches.
  • Slip stitch to join.

Round 4:

  • Chain 2.
  • Crochet 2 double crochets in the first stitch, then 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches.
  • Repeat around to get a total of 48 stitches.
  • Slip stitch to join.

Round 5:

  • Chain 1.
  • Crochet 1 single crochet in each stitch around, maintaining 48 stitches.
  • Slip stitch to join.

Creating Loops:

  • Chain 20.
  • Count 7 stitches, skip them, and slip stitch into the 8th stitch to form a loop.
  • Repeat the process to create 6 loops around.

Connecting Loops:

  • After finishing the 6 loops, slip stitch into the base stitch where you started chaining.

Adding New Yarn & More Loops:

  • Pick any loop and attach new yarn.
  • Make sure loops are centered and not skewed.
  • Make 4 single crochets on the top of each loop to connect them.
  • Continue around for 48 stitches.

Next Rounds:

  • After finishing the loops and connecting them, perform another round of 48 single crochets.
  • Follow with a round of 48 double crochets.
  • Do not tighten the slip stitch at the end of this round as you'll need it open for later.

Creating Waves for the Strap:

  • Perform 10 slip stitches followed by 5 half double crochets in the next stitch for a wave peak.
  • Slip stitch into the next stitch, then continue with slip stitches for about 10 stitches, followed by another 5 half double crochets into the next stitch for another wave.
  • The waves will act as attachment points for the strap.

Straps:

  • Make a chain of 80 (or desired length).
  • Attach it to the wave on the opposite side.
  • Create another strap between two other waves.
  • Make knots at the top to secure the straps and sew in all tails.

Finishing:

  • Place the plant pot into the hanger.
  • Adjust loops accordingly for balance and aesthetics.
