For Step 1: Create Popcorn Flowers

Step 2: Start Squaring Off

With your contrasting color yarn, begin by making a slip knot.
Work into the spaces between the popcorn stitches.
Start with a standing UK treble (US double) crochet:
Yarn over, insert the hook in between any two popcorn petals, and pull up a loop.
Yarn over and draw through two loops, twice.
In the same space, complete two more trebles to make a total of three.
