Materials:

  • 2 balls of 100% acrylic size 4 yarn
  • 4mm crochet hook

Instructions:

Start:

  • Chain 4 to start, then make a double crochet in the first chain to form a ring.

For Row 1:

  • Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet here and throughout).
  • Make 1 double crochet in the first chain space.
  • Chain 1, then make another double crochet in the same space.

Row 2:

  • Chain 3 to start, then make a double crochet in the first stitch to create an increase.
  • Continue making double crochets in the chain spaces and on top of the stitches from the previous row, with a chain 1 between each double crochet.
  • End the row with 7 stitches.

Row 3:

  • Chain 4 (counts as a double crochet and a chain space).
  • Make double crochets in the chain spaces and on top of the stitches from the previous row, following the established pattern.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3:

  • Continue building the triangle shape of the skirt until reaching half of the desired hip measurement.

Create Second Panel:

  • Make a second identical panel of the skirt to match the first panel.

Join Panels:

  • Join the two panels together using slip stitches.
  • Continue working in rounds, alternating between mesh rows and double crochet rows.

Waistband:

  • End with a row of double crochets.
  • Make a slip knot and chain a length sufficient to go around the waist.
  • Thread the chain through the last row of double crochet to secure the skirt around the waist.

Finishing:

  • Add fringe to the bottom of the skirt by attaching strands of yarn to the mesh rows.
  • Attach fringe throughout the bottom of the skirt, including the spaces where the panels were joined.
