The Elastic Band

- Skip the first chain and work slip stitch into the back loop only of each chain across 11 stitches
- Chain 1 and turn, continue slip stitching into back loop only for 11 stitches each row
- Repeat until elastic band measures the desired size, 52 rows for men’s size
- Join first and last rows with slip stitch to form a circle

The Hat Body
- Chain 1 and begin working into the side of the elastic rows
- Make 1 half double crochet in the first space, slip stitch in the next
