Materials

  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Two colors of yarn (Color A: Black, Color B: Maroon)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Part 1 First Strap (Color A)

  • Make a slip knot and chain 7
  • Row 1: Work 5 dc across
  • Row 2: Chain 1, work 5 sc across
  • Rows 3 to 34: Alternate dc rows and sc rows until 34 rows are completed

Increasing Section (Color A)

  • Row 1: Chain 1, work 2 sc in each stitch across (10 sc)
  • Row 2: Chain 1, work 2 sc in each stitch across (20 sc)
  • Row 3: Chain 1, work 2 sc in each stitch across (40 sc), fasten off with Color B

Crochet Head Scarf 2

Main Body (Color B)

  • Row 1: Chain 2, work 1 dc in each stitch across (40 dc)
  • Row 2: Chain 2, work 1 dc in next stitch, then repeat 1 dc, 2 dc in next stitch across (60 dc)
  • Row 3: Chain 3, skip 2 stitches, work 3 dc cluster in next stitch, repeat across, end with 2 dc and 1 dc in turning chain
  • Following Rows: Chain 3, work 3 dc clusters in spaces between clusters of previous row
  • Continue granny stitch pattern for 34 rows or desired length

Decreasing Section

  • Row 1 (Color B): Chain 2, work 1 dc, then repeat 1 dc, dc2tog across (40 stitches)
  • Row 2 (Color B): Chain 2, work 1 dc across (40 dc), fasten off with Color A
  • Row 3 (Color A): Chain 1, sc2tog across (20 sc)
  • Row 4 (Color A): Chain 1, sc2tog across (10 sc)
  • Row 5 (Color A): Chain 1, sc2tog across (5 sc)

Crochet Head Scarf 4

Second Strap and Edging

  • Using remaining 5 stitches, repeat strap sequence from Part 1, alternating dc and sc rows for 34 rows, then fasten off
  • Attach Color B at corner and work sc evenly around entire scarf
  • Along sides, place 2 sc in each dc row side and 1 sc in each sc row side
  • Slip stitch to join, fasten off, and weave in ends
