Materials
- Yarn: Bernat Softee (use 2 strands together)
- Hook: 5.5 mm
- Size: Newborn (Head 33–35 cm, Height 13–15 cm)
1. Crown
- Chain 4 and join with Slip Stitch to form a ring
- Round 1: Chain 3, work 11 Double Crochets into ring, Slip Stitch to join (12 DC)

- Round 2: Chain 3, 1 DC in same stitch, 2 DC in each stitch around, Slip Stitch to join (24 DC)
- Round 3: Chain 3, 2 DC in next stitch, 1 DC in next, 2 DC in next, repeat around, Slip Stitch to join (36 DC)
2. Body of the Cap
- Rounds 4–7: Chain 3, work 1 DC in each stitch around, Slip Stitch to join (36 DC)
- Continue until cap reaches desired height

3. Butterfly Wing Chain
- Work 13 DC, Chain 9, skip next 9 stitches, work 1 DC in 10th stitch
- Work 13 DC across, Chain 9, skip 9 stitches, work 1 DC in next stitch, Slip Stitch to join

4. Final Edge Design
- Work 12 DC, Chain 4, skip next 4 stitches, 1 DC in next stitch
- Repeat the Chain 4 and skip 4 sequence across the wings, continue DC to end
- For optional border: Chain 1, Single Crochet in every DC
- In each Chain 4 space, work 4 SC, then 1 SC in the next DC, then 4 SC in next Chain 4 space

- Continue around, Slip Stitch to join, cut yarn, and weave ends
