The Simple Crochet Chunky Shawl is a beginner-friendly yet stylish project that combines the timeless charm of granny squares with the cozy comfort of chunky yarn. Made by joining three large granny squares, this shawl is both quick and satisfying to crochet.

Materials
- Yarn: One skein of Caron Anniversary Cake or approx. 1,060 yards of size 6 super bulky yarn
- Hook: Large hook suitable for chunky yarn
The Granny Square (Make 3)
- Create a magic circle.
- Row 1: Chain 2, 2 DC in circle, chain 2. Repeat (3 DC, chain 2) three more times. Tighten circle and join.
- Row 2: Chain 2, in corner space work (2 DC, chain 2, 3 DC). Repeat (3 DC, chain 2, 3 DC) in each corner. Join.
- Row 3+: Chain 2, work granny clusters (3 DC) in side spaces and (3 DC, chain 2, 3 DC) in corners. Continue until 15 rows are complete.
- Make three identical squares of equal size.

Joining the Squares
- Place two squares with wrong sides down.
- Double knot yarn to start.
- Slip stitch both corners together.
- Slip stitch through back loops along edge to join.
- Repeat to attach third square to the second.

Adding the Border
- Begin on the right side.
- Work 1 HDC in each stitch.
- Work 2 HDC in each chain space.
- Continue around both sides of the shawl that wrap around the body.

Attaching Tassels
- Wrap yarn around cardboard, cut one end to make strands.
- Using five strands, insert hook from wrong side, pull through loop, then pull tails through to secure.
- Space tassels by skipping two granny clusters between each.

- Repeat along bottom edge from corner to corner.
