Materials:

  • Red color yarn
  • White color yarn
  • Crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Keychain, snowflakes, small hairball (for decorations)

Pattern Instructions:

Starting with Red Yarn:

Magic Ring:

  • Create a magic ring.
  • Insert the hook into the ring, pull out the yarn, and make a slip stitch.

For Row 1:

  • Inside the magic ring, make six single crochets.
  • Make a slip stitch into the first stitch of this row.
  • Chain 1 to start the next row.

Row 2:

  • Pattern Repeat: One single crochet, followed by an increase (two single crochets in the same stitch). Repeat this sequence three times in total.
  • Chain 1 to start the next row.

Row 3:

  • Pattern Repeat: Make “X V X” - One single crochet, increase in the next stitch (two single crochets in the same stitch), and then another single crochet. Repeat this sequence three times in total.
  • Chain 1 to start the next row.

In Row 4:

  • Make three single crochets and then an increase. Repeat this sequence three times in total.
  • Chain 1 to start the next row.

Row 5:

  • Pattern Repeat: Two single crochets, one increase, and then two more single crochets. Repeat this sequence three times in total.
  • Chain 1 to start the next row.

Row 6 to Row 9:

  • Make 18 single crochets in each of these rows.

Switching to White Yarn:

Row 10:

  • Change to white yarn.
  • Pattern Repeat: Make eight single crochet stitches, followed by an increase. Repeat this sequence two times in total.
  • Tuck in the ends of the yarns to secure.

Row 11 to Row 15:

  • Make one single crochet in each stitch across for a total of 20 stitches in each row.

Finishing Touches:

Cut and hide the yarn:

  • Securely cut off the yarn and weave in the ends to hide.

Turn over the brim:

  • Fold the brim of the hat to the desired width.

Attach decorations:

  • Make a small hairball and attach it to the top of the hat.
  • Stick on snowflakes and any other desired decorations.
  • Attach a keychain if desired for hanging or gifting.
