The Body (Red Yarn)

  • Chain 4.
  • Work 3 single crochets (SC) in the second chain from the hook.
  • Repeat this pattern 12 times.
  • Close the round with 3 slip stitches (SL).
  • Cut the red yarn and switch to white yarn.

Adding the White Stripes

  • Attach the white yarn and make a turning chain.
  • In the back loop only, work (1 double crochet (DC), 1 chain (CH), and 1 DC) into the same stitch. Repeat 12 times.
  • Cut the white yarn and switch back to red yarn.

Continuing the Stripe Pattern (Red Yarn)

  • Attach the red yarn and make a turning chain.
  • Working in the front loops of the stitches from the previous row, the pattern is:

  • then (1DC, 1CH, 1DC) four times in the same stitch.
  • Repeat the (1DC, 1CH, 1DC) pattern 10 times to finish.
  • Switch to white yarn and repeat the same pattern from Step 2:
  • (1DC, 1CH, 1DC) five times, skip 2 groups, then (1DC, 1CH, 1DC) five times again.
  • Switch to red yarn and repeat the same pattern for 7 rows (7 half-double crochets (HDC)).

  • Crochet a separate piece for the sleeves consisting of 7 half-double crochets (HDC).
