Best Crochet Christmas Garland

Materials:

  • Yarn:
  • Popcorn Garland: Number 4 medium weight white or cream colored yarn
  • Bobble Garland: Bulky yarn
  • Puff Stitch Garland: Super bulky yarn, such as Bernat Blanket yarn
  • Crochet Hook:
  • Popcorn Garland: 6.5 mm
  • Bobble Garland: 6.5 mm
  • Puff Stitch Garland: 9 mm

Abbreviations:

  • ch: chain
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • pop: popcorn stitch
  • bob: bobble stitch
  • puff: puff stitch

Popcorn Garland

Foundation Chain:

Chain 3.

Popcorn Stitch:

  • Work a popcorn stitch into the first chain by:
  • Yo and work 5 dc into the first chain.
  • Pull up a loop, count back 5 stitches, go into the first stitch of the first dc, and pick that loop back up.
  • Pull it tight, yo, and pull through the loops on your hook to close your popcorn.
  • Chain 1.
  • Repeat steps 2 and 3 to create the desired length of garland.

Bobble Garland

Foundation Chain:

Chain 3.

Bobble Stitch:

Work 5 double crochets together into the first chain by:

  • Yo and put your hook through the first chain, pull through a loop.
  • Yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, go through again, yo, pull through 2 loops.
  • Repeat this 5 times.
  • Yo, pull through all 6 loops on your hook.
  • Chain 1 to close your bobble.
  • Chain 3.
  • Repeat steps 2 and 3 to create the desired length of garland.

Puff Stitch Garland:

Foundation Chain: Chain 1.

  • Puff Stitch: Pull up a loop about an inch or so.
  • Yarn over and pull through the loop 5 times.
  • Yarn over and pull through all 11 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn over and pull through to close.
  • Chain 1.
  • Repeat steps 2-6 to create the desired length of garland.
