Materials Needed:
- Crocs (Size 8 women's in the example, but pattern adjusts for sizes 6-9)
- Yarn in 5 colors (100% cotton embroidery yarn recommended)
- Crochet hook (2.5 mm suggested)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Thread for sewing patches onto Crocs
Granny Square (Make 2):
Starting the Center:
- Start with a Slip Knot: Wrap yarn over two fingers, hold with thumb, go around the back, cross over in the front, flip your fingers, hold with ring finger, use pinchers to go under the first loop, grab the back loop and pull it through. Insert your hook into this loop, and pull the ends tight.
- Chain 2 (This method, rather than the magic circle, prevents it from opening up).
- Make 3 Double Crochets into the first chain to form your first cluster.
- Chain 2, and repeat the 3 double crochets in the same space to create a cluster.
Expanding the Square:
- Continue forming clusters (3 double crochets), separated by chaining 2 between each, to complete the round.
- Slip Stitch into the top of the initial double crochet, then slip stitch to the corner for a color change point.
- Change Colors (if desired) or continue with the same color. Attach new yarn color with a slip knot into a corner chain space.
- Repeat the process for the next rounds, increasing the side cluster space for each round, ensuring you create corner spaces (two double crochets, chain two, two double crochets) in each corner.
Triangle (Make 2):
- Start with a Slip Knot, chain 2.
- Make 3 Double Crochets into the first chain.
- Chain 2, then create another cluster in the same space.
- Color change via unfinished double crochet, introducing new yarn color.
- Work in rows, flipping your work, and replicating the granny square process but halving it to form triangles.
- Increase the number of side clusters with each row, creating a pyramid shape.
Small Triangle (Make 2):
- Follow the triangle instruction but reduce by one row to make it smaller than the main triangles.
Sewing and Assembling:
Sew the patches together:
- Use the mattress stitch to join one granny square to both a large and a small triangle, ensuring to line them up and adjust by skipping stitches if necessary.
- Prepare another set of patches for the other croc, mirroring the orientation.
- Sew the final assembly onto your Crocs, aligning them above the sole's ridge; detailed instructions are provided in the video for attaching securely.
Additional Tips:
- Weave in ends for a tidy finish.
- Adjust the triangle placement for left and right Crocs to have symmetrical covers.
- Watch the video if you need a visual guide on stitches, color changes, or assembly onto the Crocs.
