Materials
- Crochet Hook: Size 7 (4.5 mm)
- Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver or any size 4 weight yarn
- Stitches: Single crochet in the back loop only, puff stitches, half double crochet, half double crochet decreases
Brim
- Make a slip knot and chain 9 stitches.
- Single crochet into the back bump of the second chain from the hook and continue down to create 8 single crochets.

- Chain one, turn, and single crochet in the back loop only of each stitch down the row.
- Repeat this process until the brim measures 16-17 inches long, or for 66 rows.
- Join the ends of the brim with slip stitches.
- Turn the work inside out so the seam is on the inside.
Puff Stitch Rounds
- Chain one and create a row of single crochets around the brim. The creator used 66 stitches to match the number of rows in the brim.
- Join the last single crochet to the first with a slip stitch, and chain two.
- Create the first puff stitch by yarning over, inserting the hook into the stitch, and pulling up a loop three times to get seven loops on the hook.

- Yarn over and pull through all seven loops, then chain one to close the stitch.
- Skip two stitches and place two puff stitches into the third stitch. Repeat this pattern all the way around to create the heart shape.
- For subsequent rows, place the puff stitches into the chain spaces of the puffs from the previous row.
- The pattern in the video is two rows of red, four rows of pink, and one row of white puff stitches.
Crown Decreases

- After the last row of puff stitches, join with a slip stitch and chain one.
- The crown is worked in half double crochet.
- Follow this decrease pattern:
- Round 9: 5 half double crochets, then a decrease.
- Round 10: 4 half double crochets, then a decrease.
- Round 11: 3 half double crochets, then a decrease.
- Round 12: 2 half double crochets, then a decrease.
- Round 13: 1 half double crochet, then a decrease.
- Round 14: All decreases.
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail to cinch the top of the hat.
Finishing

- Thread the long yarn tail onto a darning needle.
- Weave the needle in and out of every other stitch around the top of the hat.
- Pull the yarn tail to cinch the top closed, then secure with a knot.
- Weave in all loose ends.
