Crochet Hat Pattern

Whether you're matching it with your winter coat or topping off a casual outfit, this hat adds the perfect handmade touch—with the bonus of a pom-pom on top if you're feeling extra!
Crown
- Round 1: Begin with a magic ring. Work 10 half double crochets (hdc) into the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the first stitch.
- Round 2: Chain 1. Work 2 hdc in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch. (20 hdc)
- Round 3: Alternate between single crochet (sc) and half double crochet (hdc) stitches all the way around. Join with a slip stitch.
- Round 4: 1 hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch — repeat around. Join. (30 hdc)
- Round 5: 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next stitch — repeat around. Join.
- Round 6: 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next stitch — repeat around. Join.
- Round 7: 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next stitch — repeat around. Join.

- Round 8: 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next stitch — repeat around. Join.

Body of the Hat
- Round 12: Alternate between sc and hdc stitches in each stitch around. Join.

Ribbed Brim
- Rounds 1–6: Alternate between front post double crochet (fpdc) and back post double crochet (bpdc) stitches around to create ribbing. Join each round with a slip stitch.
Finishing
- Fasten off and weave in ends securely.
