Quick Crochet Mini Paint Palette Tutorial For Keychains & Bag Decor

Let's start on a fun adventure with a crochet mini paint palette! This cute project is perfect for adding a splash of color and a dab of creativity to your day. With just a few basic materials like yarn, embroidery threads, crochet hooks, and a bit of glue, you can whip up a tiny artistic masterpiece.

Materials Needed:

  • Light worsted yarn in white (e.g., Hobie Friends Cotton 88)
  • Variety of embroidery threads (colors: brown, yellow, blue, green, red)
  • Crochet hooks: 2.75 mm and 1.5 mm
  • UHU glue

Instructions For Base of the Palette:

Start with White Yarn and 2.75 mm hook

  • Create a slip knot, then chain 6.
  • Slip stitch into the first chain to form a loop.
  • Single crochet 12 times into the center of the loop (not into the chains).
  • Slip stitch to join to the first single crochet.

Second Round:

  • Chain 1 (counts as the first stitch).
  • In the next stitch, perform increase by making two single crochets.
  • Perform half double crochet increases in the subsequent stitches by yarning over, inserting the hook, yarning over and pulling through all three loops on the hook twice in the same stitch.
  • Perform double crochet increases in the next stitches.
  • Perform treble crochet increases for a more pronounced texture by yarning over twice before inserting the hook.

Paint Globs:

Switch to 1.5 mm hook

  • Use embroidery thread to create small circles with a magic circle technique; Single crochet 6 into the circle.
  • Use the invisible join technique to close off the circle.
  • Cut a short tail of thread, thread a yarn needle, and neatly weave in the ends.
  • Apply a small amount of UHU glue to affix the tiny crochet circles onto the palette base as "paint globs."

Mini Paintbrush Instructions:

Start with Brown Embroidery Thread and 1.5 mm hook

  • Make a magic circle.
  • Single crochet 6 times into the circle. Close the circle and join with a slip stitch.
  • Create the brush tip by chaining 2, then slip stitching in the next two stitches.

Handle of the Brush:

  • Switch to green embroidery thread.
  • Chain 8, then starting from the second chain from the hook, make 7 slip stitches back down the chain.
  • Join back to the base of the paintbrush with a slip stitch.
  • Trim the ends and use UHU glue to secure any loose tails.

Final Assembly:

  • Affix the paintbrush to the paint palette for a complete look.
