Crochet Textured Cushion & Pillow Pattern
Materials Needed:
- 100% cotton yarn (Fine yarn also known as fingering yarn)
- Crochet hook size 4.5 mm
- Polyfill (white or color that matches your yarn for filling)
- Scissors and a needle for finishing
General Instructions:
- The square pillow measures 30 cm x 30 cm.
- The stitch pattern uses chains in multiples of 3 plus 2 extra chains.
Steps for Making the Pillow:
In Step 1: Creating the Base Chain
- Start by making a slip knot.
- Crochet a chain in multiples of 3. For the example in the video, 17 multiples of 3 were made (which makes 51), and then add 2 more chains for a total of 53 chains.
Step 2: Row 1 (Setup Row of Single Crochets)
- Crochet a turning chain.
- Starting from the second chain from the hook, make one single crochet into each chain.
- By the end of the row, you should have 52 single crochets.
Step 3: Row 2 (Pattern Row)
- Chain one and turn your work.
- In the first stitch, make a single crochet, a half double crochet, and a double crochet all into the same stitch.
- Skip the next two stitches.
- Repeat step 2 in the third stitch.
- Continue this pattern (one single crochet, one half double crochet, one double crochet in one stitch, skip next two stitches) to the end of the row.
- In the last stitch, make only one single crochet to finish.
For Step 4: Additional Rows
- Repeat Row 2 for each subsequent row.
- Continue with the established pattern until you reach the desired length for the size of the pillow.
Step 5: Making Another Panel
- Repeat Steps 1 to 4 to create another square panel.
Step 6: Assembling the Pillow
- Place the two panels on top of each other, with the right sides facing each other.
- Sew three sides together.
- Turn the pillowcase right side out.
- Stuff the pillow with polyfill.
- Sew the open side closed.
