The step-by-step instructions guide you through each stage—from crafting the base sole to shaping the heel and finishing with a delicate shell edging. You can personalize them by choosing your favorite color combination or adjusting the size for a perfect fit. These shoes are ideal for lounging at home, gifting, or adding a unique touch to your handmade wardrobe.

Materials

  • 2.0 mm crochet hook
  • Fine crochet yarn in two colors (Color A and Color B)
  • Scissors and yarn needle

Crochet Base (Sole)

  • Ch 4 (Ch 6 for larger size)
  • Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as DC).
  • Work 4 DC into 4th chain from hook, then 3 more DC in the same stitch to form the curve.

Continue with 3 DC on the opposite side and 3 DC in the last chain.

Crochet Slippers 1

  • Sl st to join. (12 sts)
  • Round 2: Ch 3, work 2 DC in each stitch around.
  • Sl st to join. (24 sts)
  • Round 3: Ch 3, 2 DC in each stitch around.
  • Sl st to join. (48 sts)

Main Body (Toe/Instep)

  • Round 4 (Color B): Change color. Ch 3, DC in next stitch, skip 1 stitch, 2 DC in next stitch.
  • Repeat around. Sl st to join.
  • Round 5 (Color A): Ch 3, DC in next stitch, then 2 DC in the center of the 2-DC group from previous round.
  • Repeat around. Sl st to join.
  • Repeat Rounds 4 and 5 until toe section is complete (about 7 rows of Color B).

Heel and Ankle Strips

  • Mark 6 stitches from center on both sides.
  • Starting at first marker, Ch 3 and turn. DC across to second marker.
  • Repeat this row for a total of 7 rows to form ankle strips.

Shaping the Heel

  • Mark center 14 stitches at the back opening.
  • Row 1: Ch 1, work 12 DC across the center.
  • Skip 1 stitch on side strip, sl st into next stitch to attach.
  • Row 2: Ch 3, turn, 12 DC across, skip 1 stitch, sl st join to side.
  • Repeat this method for 7 rows total to close the heel cup.

Crochet Slippers 4

Finishing and Edging

  • Change to Color B. Work SC around the top edge of the shoe.
  • When working along sides, make 3 SC per row.
  • Complete 2 full rounds of SC around the opening.
  • For the decorative shell edge, skip 2 stitches, work 5 DC in the 3rd stitch (shell stitch), skip 2 stitches, sl st into next.
  • Repeat around.
  • Fasten off and weave in all ends.
