Starting with a Slip Knot and Foundation Chain:

  • Make a slip knot
  • Chain 20

Creating the Base:

  • 3 double crochet (dc) in the 4th chain from the hook
  • Skip one chain, 3 double crochet in the next chain
  • Repeat: 1 skip, 3dc

  • Chain 2, turn

Working on the Pattern:

  • One double crochet in the first stitch
  • One double crochet in the next stitch
  • Chain one, slip stitch (creating a 1 chain picot)
  • One double crochet in the same stitch

One double crochet in the next stitch

  • Chain 2, slip stitch in the same stitch - One petal complete
  • Repeat for each petal:
  • (1 slip stitch, 2 chain, 1 double crochet),
  • (1 double crochet, 1 picot, 1 double crochet),

  • (1 double crochet, 2 chain, 1 slip stitch)

Forming a Leaf:

  • Make a slip knot, chain 8
  • One single crochet in the second chain from the hook

  • One half double crochet in the next chain
  • One double crochet in the next 3 chains
  • One half double crochet in the next chain
  • One single crochet in the last chain

  • Chain 2
  • One single crochet in the same chain
  • Continue on the other side:
  • One half double crochet in the next chain
  • One double crochet in the next 3 chains

  • One half double crochet in the next chain
  • One single crochet in the next chain
  • Slip stitch in the first stitch
  • Chain one and cut the yarn

Creating a Circle:

  • R1: 6 single crochet in a magic loop. Pull to tighten, slip stitch in the first stitch, chain one.
  • R2: 2 single crochet in each stitch around (12 stitches total), slip stitch in the first stitch, chain one.
  • R3: single crochet (sc), increase (inc) × 6 = 18 single crochet total, slip stitch in the first stitch.
