Materials

  • Janspiration mercerized cotton yarn in "Lotto"
  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Stitch markers

Flower Cups

  • Make a magic ring
  • 8 single crochets into the ring
  • Slip stitch to join
  • Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet)

Crochet Stitch Crop Top 1

Make a popcorn stitch (5 double crochets), close it, chain 1

  • Repeat popcorn + chain 1 in each stitch (total 8 popcorns)
  • Slip stitch to join the round

Round 2:

  • In each chain-1 space, make 2 popcorn stitches separated by a chain 1
  • Total 16 popcorn stitches

For Round 3:

  • Repeat the same as Round 2 in each chain-1 space
  • Total 32 popcorn stitches

For Round 4:

  • Make 1 popcorn stitch in each chain-1 space
  • Total 32 popcorn stitches
  • Make 2 identical flower cup pieces

The Straps

  • From a flower cup, chain 1
  • In the first 4 chain-1 spaces, make 2 single crochets in each (8 stitches total)
  • Chain 1, turn, make 8 single crochets
  • Repeat for 66 rows or until strap measures 33 cm
  • Leave a long tail and place stitch marker
  • Make 2 identical strap pieces

Back Panel

  • On a flower cup, mark the 4th and 12th chain-1 space from strap start
  • Attach yarn at first marker
  • Chain 3, make 2 double crochets in first two spaces
  • Make 2 half double crochets in next two spaces
  • Make 2 single crochets in next three spaces
  • Make 2 half double crochets in next two spaces
  • Make 2 double crochets in final spaces
  • Row 2+: chain 1, turn, single crochet across

Repeat for 69 rows

  • Final row: shape with 4 double crochet, 2 half double, 6 single crochet, 2 half double, 4 double crochet
  • Cut yarn, leave a long tail
  • Panel should measure 34 cm wide

 Assembling the Top

  • Lay flower cups and back panel with wrong sides out
  • Align and sew sides of cups to the back panel using tapestry needle
  • Use firm stitch method shown in video
  • Repeat for other cup
  • To attach straps, mark 14th stitch in from each edge of the back panel
  • Slip stitch strap to panel across 8 stitches
  • Repeat for both straps

 Edging and Ties

  • Mark 5th space in from straps on each side of both cups (4 total markers)
  • Attach yarn to top edge of back panel
  • Single crochet across the top, side of strap, and cup edge
  • At marked point, make chain of 35
  • In 3rd chain from hook, make 4 double crochets, form popcorn, chain 1, slip stitch back
  • Make single crochet in tie base space and continue edging
  • Repeat for each marked point (4 total ties)
  • Continue single crochet around bottom edge, adding 2 single crochets in each flower space

Armhole Edging

  • Attach yarn at back panel-strap join
  • Chain 1, make 2 single crochets in first space
  • Continue single crochet evenly around armhole
  • Make 2 single crochets in each flower space
  • Slip stitch to close
  • Repeat for other armhole
  • Weave in all ends to finish
