Fingerless Crochet Mittens Pattern Using Bulky Yarn

These fingerless crochet mittens are the perfect quick project when you want something cozy, stylish, and practical. Made with bulky weight yarn and a 6.5 mm hook, they work up fast and stretch to fit most adult sizes. The simple single crochet design makes them beginner friendly, yet the snug ribbed cuff and thumb shaping give them a professional finish.

Crochet Fingerless Mittens

Crochet Fingerless Mittens Free EASY Pattern

Perfect for keeping your hands warm while leaving your fingers free, these mittens are great for everyday wear, gifts, or a last-minute winter accessory. You can easily adjust the length of the mitten body or thumb to create a custom fit.

 

Materials

  • Bulky weight yarn (less than 100g for a pair)
  • 6.5 mm crochet hook

Pattern Notes

  • Entire mitten is worked in single crochet
  • Size Extra Small but stretches to fit most adults
  • Worked in rounds and rows with minimal seaming

The Ribbing Cuff

  • Chain 9
  • Row 1 Work 1 sc in next 8 chains ch 1 turn
  • Rows 2-16 Work 1 sc in BLO of 8 stitches ch 1 turn repeat until 16 rows or wrist fit
  • Join Fold cuff join with 8 slip stitches through FLO of both ends chain 1

Hand Body Base and Increases

  • Round 1 Work 1 sc evenly around cuff edge total 16 sc finish with invisible join cut yarn if changing color
  • Round 2 Attach yarn work 1 sc BLO in each stitch 16 sc begin working in spiral
  • Round 3 1 sc in next stitch 2 sc in next stitch repeat around total 24 sc
  • Rounds 4-5 1 sc in each stitch 24 sc
  • Round 6 Increase 1 sc in 5 stitches 2 sc in next repeat around total 28 sc

Creating the Thumb Hole

  • Round 7 1 sc in first stitch skip 6 stitches 1 sc in next stitch continue around total 22 sc

Main Hand and Finishing the Mitten

  • Rounds 8-14/15 Work 1 sc in each stitch 22 sc continue until mitten length before fingers
  • Finish Off Work 2 slip stitches cut yarn finish with invisible join

The Thumb

  • Round 1 Attach yarn to first skipped stitch work 6 sc across skipped stitches 3 sc over join total 9 sc
  • Rounds 2-4 Work 1 sc in each stitch total 9 sc continue 3-4 rounds or until desired length
  • Finish Off 1 slip stitch cut yarn finish with invisible join weave in ends
