Crochet Wind Spinner Pattern
Materials Needed:
- DK yarn (in your choice of colors)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
Pattern:
Foundation Chain:
- Make a slipknot and chain to your desired length. (The example uses 50 chains for a moderately long spinner.)
Row 1:
- Starting in the second chain from the hook, work a UK double crochet (US single crochet) into every chain.
- If changing colors, chain one and cut the yarn here. If using the same color, proceed to the next step.
Row 2:
- Without cutting the yarn, turn your work, chain two. This counts as your first UK treble crochet (US double crochet).
- Work two UK treble crochets (US double crochets) in the base of the first stitch and in every stitch along the row.
- If changing colors, at the end of the row, chain one, cut the yarn, and tie off. Weave in ends.
For Row 3:
- Start with a new color with a slipknot on your hook, making sure you're working into the back of your work.
- Perform a standing treble crochet in the first stitch. Then, work three UK treble crochets (US double crochets) in the same stitch and every stitch across.
- The piece should start to curl more significantly after this row. At the end of the row, if you're changing colors again, chain one, cut the yarn, and tie off. Weave in ends.
Row 4 (Final Row):
- With a new color (the example uses a glittery silver yarn), start by working a UK double crochet (US single crochet) in each stitch all the way down the row.
- This row is to add a finishing edge and will catch the light beautifully.
- At the end of the row, chain one, then leave a long tail of yarn when you cut it off. This tail will be used for hanging the wind spinner.
Finishing Touches:
- Sew in any outstanding yarn ends, except for the long tail.
- To shape your wind spinner, start at the top with the long tail and gently wrap the spinner into its curled shape.
