Crochet Tutu & Yoke Dress
Materials:
- Alice Diva yarn (beautiful shade)
- 2.5 millimeter crochet hook
Yoke Pattern:
Starting Chain:
- Make a slip knot and work 122 chains.
Row Setup:
- Work chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), skip the first 3 chains from the hook and into the fourth chain, work a double crochet.
Pattern Establishment:
- Work a double crochet into each of the next 3 chain spaces (total of 5 double crochets including the chain-3).
Work Chain:
- Chain 3, skip 3 chain spaces, then into the fourth one work:
- a double crochet (for straight sections)
- a V-stitch (one double crochet, chain one, one double crochet) for V-stitch sections
- a corner (two double crochets, chain one, two double crochets) for corner sections
Sleeve and Front Parts:
- Repeat the above process, creating patterns for sleeves and front parts of the yoke, including V-stitches and corners as laid out.
- Continue the pattern until you have worked around the initial starting chain, creating the correct spacing for sleeves, front and back parts.
Rounds Pattern:
Second Round:
- Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet).
- Turn your work.
- Work one double crochet into each of the next 4 stitches (you should have five double crochets).
- Chain 3, work a single crochet into the top of a double crochet.
- Work a shell stitch (three double crochets, chain one, three double crochets) into a V-stitch.
- Continue the pattern, adding chain spaces and working into the V-stitches along the way.
- When reaching corners, use a chain-5 to form the corner, then work two double crochets, chain two, and two double crochets into the same space.
Third Round (and subsequent rounds):
- Chain 3 at the start (as first double crochet), turn your work.
- Continue with four more double crochets following the pattern established in the previous row.
- Work V-stitches into single crochet spaces and shell stitches into the chain spaces as in the previous rounds.
- Keep forming corners as before.
- Continue the first, second, third, and fourth-row pattern until the armpit size is reached.
Separating the Body and Sleeve:
- Once sufficient rows are completed for the yoke, work the row up to the first corner.
- To create the armhole, chain 1 to join to the corner of the next part of the yoke, creating a hole for the arm.
- Continue the pattern until you have created two armholes.
Body Part:
- Continue the shell stitch pattern for the body, working in rounds to create the desired length.
- Once the body part reaches the desired length, add a scallop or other border to finish the edge.
Sleeves:
- Add more rows as needed to the sleeve part, maintaining the pattern consistency.
Finishing Touches:
- Attach buttons as needed for closure at the back.
- If desired, attach a fabric skirt to the yoke by sewing after gathering the material to the yoke's width.
