Material Needed:

  • Yarn
  • Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Markers

Round 1:

  • Begin with an adjustable ring (magic circle).
  • Work a single chain to raise the height for the first round.
  • Make 6 single crochets into the adjustable ring.
  • Pull the yarn to close the circle.
  • Connect the circle by crocheting a single crochet into the first stitch made.

Round 2 (Increase Round):

  • Work two single crochets into each stitch from the previous round.
  • By the end of this round, ensure you have a total of 12 stitches.

For Round 3:

  • Start by crocheting a single crochet into the first stitch and placing a stitch marker.
  • Next stitch, single crochet.
  • Increase at the next stitch by making two single crochets into it.
  • Repeat the pattern around - single crochet in next two stitches, then an increase.
  • Finish this round with a total of 16 stitches.

Round 4:

  • Start with a single crochet in the first stitch, marking it.
  • Perform two consecutive increases, each involving two single crochets in a stitch.
  • Continue the pattern: two single crochets and two increases until you have 24 stitches total.

Round 5:

  • Begin with a single chain.
  • Skip the first stitch, single crochet in the second.
  • Chain again, and increase in the next stitch by making two single crochets.
  • Continue with: single chain, skip a stitch, then a single crochet into the next one.
  • Include increases at strategic points detailed in the pattern to grow the blanket.

For Round 6 and Beyond:

  • Start with a single crochet into the first chain space seen after a single chain.
  • Single chain, skip next stitch, proceed with a single crochet into the next chain space and continue.
  • In corners, work a single crochet, chain, and another single crochet into the same space, creating an increase, necessary for expanding the blanket’s dimensions correctly.
  • Continue with this woven stitch pattern, adding increases in corners and using single crochets linked by chains for the body.

Additional Notes:

  • Feel free always to rewind and revisit the specific steps in the pattern as often as necessary.
  • Continue this pattern to grow the blanket to your desired dimensions.
  • The pattern recommends using a 4mm crochet hook and Lion Brand Skein yarns in shades like almond, honey, mahogany, truffle, and hazelnut.
  • This pattern results in a tightly woven fabric with no holes, ideal for a baby blanket.
