Materials Needed:

  • Yarn: Hayfield Spirit DK, shade Harmony (or any DK yarn)
  • Crochet Hook: 4.5 mm

Instructions:

Starting Chain:

  • Chain 32: This sets the width of your scarf. To adjust the size, work in multiples of 6 + 2 extra chains.

Row 1:

First Stitch:

  • In the second chain from the hook, make a UK double crochet (US single crochet).

Create shells:

  • Skip the next two chains, then in the third chain, work 5 UK trebles (US double crochets) into the same chain.

Repeat the Pattern:

  • Skip 2 chains, then make a UK double crochet in the next chain. Repeat the sequence of skipping 2 chains and working 5 trebles into the next chain across the row.

Final stitches:

  • After your last shell, you should have three chains left. Skip two, then make a UK double crochet into the last chain.
  • Turn your work to start the next row.

Row 2:

Start with a half shell:

  • Make three trebles into the first stitch (creating a half shell).

Pattern repeat:

  • Skip two stitches, then make a UK double crochet into the top of the next (middle) treble from the previous row.

Back loop shells:

  • Always working into the back loops, skip two stitches, then work 5 trebles into the back loop of the next UK double crochet from the previous row. Continue this pattern across.

End with a half shell:

  • At the end of the row, mirror the beginning by ending with a half shell (3 trebles).

Subsequent Rows:

Repeat Row 1 and Row 2:

  • These rows form the pattern repeat. Continue these until your scarf reaches the desired length.

Finishing:

  • You may choose to add tassels or join the ends to create an infinity scarf. Joining is recommended by slip stitching for a seamless look.
