Materials

  • Hook: 4mm crochet hook
  • Yarn: Soft 8-ply yarn

The Wristband (Single Crochet)

  • Start with a slip knot and chain 11.
  • In the second chain from the hook, work single crochet (SC) across the row.
  • Turn your work and chain 1 to start each new row.
  • For a neat edge, insert the hook under the entire stitch for the first and last SC of every row.
  • For all other stitches, work SC in the back loop only.
  • Continue until the piece measures 9 inches long (or 10 inches for a larger size).

Joining and First Round of Glove Body

  • Fold the rectangle in half and join the ends using single crochet (SC) through each corresponding stitch.
  • Pick up 28 stitches evenly around the top edge of the wristband using SC.
  • Slip stitch to join the round.

Glove Body (Half Double Crochet)

  • Chain 1 to start the round.
  • Work half double crochet (HDC) in each stitch around.
  • Slip stitch to join, then chain 1 to begin the next round.
  • Repeat for six rounds total (add one more if you prefer a longer glove).

Creating the Thumb Hole (Left Hand)

  • Chain 1 to start the round.
  • HDC 5 stitches, then chain 3 and skip the next 5 stitches.
  • Continue with HDC in the 6th stitch and in all remaining stitches to finish the round.

Final Rows

  • Next Round: Work HDC into every stitch, including the three chain stitches from the thumb hole.

Last Row (Shaping):

  • Chain 1.
  • Single crochet two together (SC2tog) over the first two stitches.
  • Single crochet (SC) around until the last two stitches.
  • SC2tog over the final two stitches.
  • Fasten off and weave in ends.
