Free Crochet Caramel Dress Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Circulo Yarns - Charme: 5 balls color 7371 Caramel
  • Crochet hook: C or size to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Optional fabric: to line dress
  • Measuring tape and scissors

Gauge

  • Gauge to meet: 17 double crochets (dc) x 10 rows (R) = 4 inches/10 cm using size C hook

Pattern Instructions

  • Back: Follow chart 1
  • Right Front: Follow chart 2

Part 1 - Back

Starting the Back Panel:

  • Crochet back and forth.
  • Start with chain 94 (Ch 94).
  • Row 1: Chain 1 (Ch 1), then *1 single crochet (sc), chain 3 (ch 3)* and repeat this pattern 30 more times, ending the row with 1 single crochet (1 sc).
  • Rows 2 - 35: Continue crocheting these rows following chart 1. After completing these rows, fasten off and set this piece aside.

Part 2 - Right Front

Creating the Right Front Panel:

  • Again, crochet back and forth.
  • Start with chain 64 (Ch 64).
  • Row 1: Chain 1 (Ch 1), then *1 sc, ch 3* and repeat this pattern 20 more times, ending with 1 sc.
  • Rows 2 - 35: Continue following chart 2. Once complete, fasten off and set aside this piece.

Left Front

Making the Left Front Panel:

  • Crochet back and forth.
  • Chain 64 (Ch 64).
  • Row 1: Chain 1 (Ch 1), then *1 sc, ch 3* and repeat this pattern 20 more times, ending with 1 sc.
  • Rows 2 - 35: Continue following chart 3. After completion, fasten off and set this piece aside.

Top Assembly

Joining the Pieces Together:

  • Use a tapestry needle and Charme yarn to join the shoulders (measuring 3.25 inches).
  • Overlap the fronts as indicated on the measurement chart.
  • Sew the sides together, making sure to leave a 10-inch seam and a 7.5-inch opening for the arms.
  • Crochet Edge: For the neckline, make one round in single crochet (1 rnd in sc).

Part 3 - Skirt

Starting the Skirt:

  • Join Charme yarn into the foundation chain of the top at the back center.
  • Begin crocheting in the round, closing rounds with a slip stitch (sl st).
  • Rnd 1 - 9: Follow Pattern A - chart 4, ensuring there are 124 stitches per round.
  • Next rnd: Continue with Pattern B - chart 5 and repeat the stitch pattern for rounds 1 - 50 of this chart.
  • Work Tiers:
    • Tier 1 - 12: Create 74 motifs each.
    • Tier 13 - 24: Create 110 motifs each.
  • After completing tiers, fasten off and set the skirt piece aside.

Part 4 - Skirt Ruffle

Creating the Ruffle:

  • Crochet in the round, closing rounds with a slip stitch (sl st).
  • Start with chain 444 (Ch 444), then close the ring with one slip stitch (1 sl st).
  • Rnd 1 - 25: Follow chart 6 and repeat the stitch patterns accordingly.
  • Work Tiers:
    • Rnd 1 - 12: Create 148 motifs.

How to Join the Ruffle to the Skirt:

  • Attach the last round of the ruffle (Rnd 25) to the 50th round of the skirt with single crochet (sc) for a total of 425 sc.
  • Then, make another round of single crochet into Round 24 of the skirt (244 sc).

Part 5 - Sleeves

Setting Up the Sleeves:

  • Attach Charme to the armhole 2 inches from the bottom and crochet back and forth.
  • Rows 1 - 11: Follow chart 7.
  • Join the sleeve at the beginning and end of each row in the 2 inches of the bottom as indicated by the orange lines on the chart. Use slip stitches to join (sl sts).

Completing the Sleeves:

  • Once this part of the sleeve is completed, continue crocheting in the round.
  • Rnd 10 & 11: Continue with the established pattern.

Lining (Optional)

Making a Slip for the Dress:
