- 4mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
Base of the Hat
- Chain 9
- Work 1 single crochet in the second chain from the hook
- Continue 1 single crochet in each chain (8 total)
- Chain 1 and turn
- Work 1 single crochet in the whole first stitch
- Work 1 single crochet in front loop only for the next stitches
- Work 1 single crochet in the whole last stitch
Repeat this row pattern for the required number of rows:

- Men: 66 rows
- Women: 64 rows
- Youth: 62 rows
Joining the Band
- Fold the ribbed band in half
- Slip stitch across to join both edges together using full stitches from both sides
Body of the Hat
- Chain 1
- Work 1 single crochet in each row-end space around the top of the band
- Slip stitch to close the round
Second Round (Alternating Stitches)
- Chain 1
- Single crochet in first stitch, double treble crochet in next
