Materials Needed
- 1000m cake of yarn
- 4mm crochet hook
- 3 stitch markers
- Scissors
- Wool needle
- Measuring tape
Tassel Preparation
- Remove yarn label and cut two strips the length of a ruler.
- Wrap yarn around a book 40 times.
- Cut yarn and tie off the wrapped bundle to form a tassel.
- Wrap a 30cm yarn piece around the top of the tassel seven times and secure tightly.
- Use a wool needle to pull the ends through the top of the tassel.
- Trim the bottom of the tassel evenly.
- Make 3 tassels total (one for each corner of the shawl).

Shawl Body
- Foundation
- Make a slip knot.
- Chain 1, then chain 3 (counts as double crochet).
- Chain 1 more.
Row 1
- Work a V-stitch (dc, ch 1, dc) in the first chain.
- Chain 2 (this forms the spine of the shawl).
- Work another V-stitch in the same first chain.
- Chain 1, then double crochet into the first stitch.

Row 2
- Chain 1 and turn.
- Double crochet into the top of the first double crochet.
- Chain 1, work a V-stitch in the first chain-1 space.
- Chain 1, in the chain-2 corner space: work a corner (V-stitch, ch 2, V-stitch).
- Chain 1, work a V-stitch in the next chain-1 space.
- Chain 1, double crochet in the last stitch.
For Row 3
- Chain 1 and turn.
