Materials Needed:

  • Wool of the Andes from WeCrochet
  • 5 millimeter or size H hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Pattern:

Center Ring:

  • Make a slip knot and chain 5.

  • Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet).
  • Work 17 double crochets into the ring (total of 18 if you count the initial chain 2 as a double crochet).
  • Join with a slip stitch to the top of the first double crochet, not the chain 2.

Puff Stitch Round:

  • Chain 1.
  • In the same stitch, yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, pull up to the height of a double crochet. Repeat this twice more in the same stitch (you should have 7 loops on the hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through all 7 loops, then chain 1 to lock the puff stitch.
  • Repeat this puff stitch process in each stitch around for a total of 18 puff stitches.
  • Join with a slip stitch into the chain 1 space between the first two puff stitches.

Cluster Stitch Round (Round 1):

  • Chain 2.
  • Work a four double crochet cluster in each chain-1 space around, followed by chaining 2.
  • Slip stitch into a chain-2 space to join the round.

Cluster Stitch Round (Round 2):

  • Chain 2.
  • Work a five double crochet cluster in each chain-2 space around, followed by chaining 3.
  • Slip stitch into a chain-3 space to join the round.

Hexagon Formation Round:

  • Start in any chain-3 space, chain 2 (counts as first double crochet).
  • Work 3 more double crochets in the same space, chain 1, then work 4 more double crochets into the same space (this forms a corner).
  • In each of the next two chain-3 spaces, work 3 double crochets.
  • Work another corner in the next chain-3 space, then work 3 double crochets in each of the next two chain-3 spaces. Repeat from * to * around until you have six corners.
  • Slip stitch into the top of the first double crochet (not the chain 2) to join the round.

Finishing:

  • Cut the yarn and weave in the ends with a yarn needle.
