Chrochet Sweet Puff flowers Cardigan Easy Free Pattern

The main body works up quickly with basic stitches while the puff flowers let you personalize the cardigan in any style—minimal, bold, pastel, or bright. Materials

  • Pink, white, and yellow yarn
  • 4 mm hook
  • 5 mm hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Cutter

Main Panels Front and Back

 

Front Panel

  • Make a slip knot and chain 33.
  • Block the last chain and chain 2.
  • Yarn over, insert hook into the blocked chain, pull through, yarn over and pull through all loops to make an HDC.
  • Work HDC across the entire row.
  • For each new row, chain 1 and turn your work.
  • Insert hook into the first stitch and continue working HDC across.

V Neck Vest 1

  • Repeat this process until you complete Row 45.
  • Make two identical front panels.

Back Panel

  • Chain 90.
  • Work HDC across the row.
  • Chain 1 and turn for each new row.
  • Follow the same process as the front panel and crochet until Row 45.

Sleeves

  • Chain 55 plus 2.
  • Work HDC across the row.
  • Continue until you complete Row 35.
  • Make two sleeves.

V Neck Vest 2

Joining the Pieces

  • Place all panels with the correct sides facing each other.
  • Join shoulders and sides using only the front loop of one panel and the back loop of the other.
  • Use this method to join the front and back panels together.
  • Attach the sleeves to the armholes.
  • Sew the sleeve seams using the same joining method.
  • Work one round of single crochet around the front opening to prepare for ribbing.
  • Chain 1, pull through, and cut the yarn.

Ribbing Neckline and Waist

  • Switch to a 4 mm hook.
  • Chain 13.
  • Work a double crochet into the third chain from the hook and continue across for 10 DC.
  • Skip two stitches on the cardigan edge and slip stitch into the third stitch.
  • Slip stitch into the next two stitches and turn the ribbing.
  • Work DC in each stitch using only the back loop.
  • Chain 3 and turn.
  • Repeat the back loop DC row.
  • Skip two stitches on the main panel and slip stitch into the third stitch.
  • Slip stitch two stitches and continue repeating the ribbing rows.
  • Continue until the neckline and waist ribbing are complete.

Hand Ribbing Cuffs

  • Chain 10.
  • Work double crochet from the third chain for a total of 8 DC.
  • Skip two stitches on the sleeve edge and slip stitch into the third stitch.
  • Slip stitch into the next stitch.
  • Skip one stitch, insert hook and pull up a loop. Skip one chain, insert hook and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all loops to make a decrease slip stitch.
  • Turn the work.
  • Work back loop double crochet across the ribbing.
  • Alternate the decrease join row and the back loop DC row.
  • Join the cuff edges together when complete.

Crochet Puff Flower

Petals

  • Create a magic ring.
  • Chain 1 and work six HDC into the ring.
  • Pull the yarn to close the ring and slip stitch into the first stitch.
  • Chain 3.
  • Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, and pull up a long loop eight times.
  • Yarn over, pull through all but two loops, yarn over, and pull through remaining loops.
  • Chain 3 and slip stitch into the same stitch.
  • Chain 3 and repeat the puff stitch sequence into the next stitch.
  • Continue until you have six petals total.

V Neck Vest 5

Center

  • Make a slip knot and chain 1.
  • Pull up a long loop and repeat the puff stitch sequence five or six times in the same stitch.
  • Sew the flower center onto the petals.
  • Attach completed flowers to the cardigan wherever desired.
