Crochet Pokeball Pouch

Easy Crochet Pokeball Pouch pattern

With bold red, black, and white color changes and a simple drawstring closure, it’s beginner-friendly and fully customizable. You can even scale it up or down depending on your yarn and hook size. This pattern walks you through every step—from creating the circular base to adding the iconic Pokéball embellishment—making it a great gift idea or personal project for Pokémon lovers.

Materials Needed

  • White, red, and black yarn (worsted weight recommended)
  • 4.5mm crochet hook
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Base (White Yarn)

  • Make a magic ring.
  • Work 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring.

Work in continuous rounds, increasing as follows:

  • Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12 sts)
  • Round 3: 1 sc, 2 sc in next stitch repeat around (18 sts)
  • Continue increasing in each round evenly until you reach the desired flat circle diameter.
  • Work 1 round in back loops only (BLO) to create a ridge for the base.

Body of the Pouch

  • Continue with single crochet in both loops for several rounds to build the pouch’s height.

Color Change (Black Yarn)

  • Switch to black yarn and work 1–2 rounds to create the band across the pouch.

Color Change (Red Yarn)

  • Switch to red yarn and continue working in rounds until the pouch reaches your desired height.

Top Edging

  • Work 1 round of: Half double crochet (hdc), chain 1, skip 1 stitch to form drawstring holes.
  • Follow with 1 round of: hdc and sc stitches to finish the top neatly.

Drawstring

  • With red yarn, chain 90.
  • Tie a knot at the end.
  • Weave through the holes created in the top edging.

  • Work 7 half double crochets (hdc) into the ring.
  • Switch to black yarn:
