Crochet Halloween Spider Web Bunting
Materials Needed:
- Thin red yarn with a bit of sparkle (described as 4 ply but quite thin)
- Crochet hook (3 mm used in video)
- PVA glue (if blocking)
Pattern Steps:
Starting Loop (Optional):
- Create a slip knot.
- Chain 15 (or longer to adjust the hanging loop size).
- Slip stitch into the first chain to create a loop.
Begin Spiderweb:
- Chain another 15 for the spacing between the hanging loop and the start of the spiderweb.
- Chain 30 for a small spiderweb. For a medium or a larger web, increase the chain by increments of 8 (e.g., 38 for medium, 46 for large, etc.).
First Round:
- Triple crochet into the sixth chain from the hook.
- Chain one, and in the same chain space, add four more triple crochets (making a total of five triple crochets into the same hole, with chain ones in between each).
Linking Chains:
- After completing the first round, chain one.
- Slip stitch into the fourth chain from the triple crochet group to start shaping the web.
Subsequent Rounds:
- Continue chaining in multiples that go up by two each round (chain 3, chain 5, chain 7, etc.), turning your work each time.
- Triple crochet into the top of previous round’s triple crochet, follow the chaining pattern, and keep expanding the web.
Final Round (with Picot):
- Chain 11 (adjust based on web size), and triple crochet into the first treble crochet from the previous round.
- For a picot: chain three, then slip stitch into the first of those three chains.
- Continue the pattern around for all sections.
Finishing:
- If adding more webs, chain a gap (for example, chain five).
- For the next spiderweb, start again with either the initial 30 chains (or adjusted number for bigger sizes).
- Keep repeating the process for each spiderweb.
- Once all webs are completed, create the final loop by chaining 15, then slip stitch into the 15th chain.
Blocking:
- If desired, block the spiderwebs by coating them with diluted PVA glue, pinning them down, and allowing them to dry.
