Materials Needed:
- Cotton DK weight yarn (or any yarn of your choice)
- 4 mm crochet hook (adjust hook size according to your yarn)
Instructions:
Foundation Chain:
- Make a slip knot and place it on your hook.
- Chain in multiples of 3. For this tutorial, chain 21 for demonstration. (For a blanket, chain a longer length as desired.)
- Add an extra 2 chains at the end. The foundation chain should be a multiple of 3, plus 2.
Row 1 (Setup Row):
- Work a UK DC (US SC) into the second chain from the hook.
- Continue working UK DC (US SC) all the way along the chain.
- Finish the row with a UK DC (US SC) in the last chain.
For Row 2 (Pattern Start):
- Chain 3 (counts as the first TR/DC), turn your work.
- Work a UK TR (US DC) directly underneath the turning chain.
- Skip the next two stitches and work 3 UK TR (US DC) into the third stitch.
- Continue this pattern along the row: skip 2, work 3 TR/DC into the next stitch until you reach the end.
- In the last stitch, work 2 UK TR (US DC) to mirror the beginning of the row.
Row 3:
- Chain 3, turn your work.
- Instead of starting in the stitch at the bottom of the chain, work 3 UK TR (US DC) into the space between the 3-TR clusters from the previous row.
- Repeat this pattern along the row, working 3 TR/DC into each space between TR clusters from the previous row.
- Finish the row by working 1 TR/DC into the top of the turning chain from the previous row. If changing colors, loop the new color onto your hook and complete the stitch with the new color.
Pattern Repeat:
- To continue the blanket, repeat Rows 2 and 3 for the pattern, adjusting the color changes as desired.
- Finish the blanket by repeating these two rows until you reach the desired size.
