It’s a great beginner project for those who want to try their hand at color changes and stuffing techniques. With a few basic supplies, you can create a fun, customizable candy corn that can serve as a keychain, plush toy, or seasonal decor. Plus, this project gives you the flexibility to add personal touches such as different yarn textures or embellishments.

Materials

  • Size 5 plush yarn in yellow, white, and orange
  • Stuffing
  • 5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

The White Section

  • Beginning: Start with the white yarn. Make a slip knot and chain four.
  • Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and the next chain. Then, work three single crochet down the opposite side of the chain.
  • Round 2: Increase in the next stitch, then single crochet in the next seven stitches.
  • Round 3: Increase in the next stitch, single crochet four, increase in the next stitch, and single crochet three.
  • Round 4: Single crochet one, increase, single crochet five, increase, and single crochet three.

  • Round 5: Single crochet two, increase, single crochet six, increase, and single crochet three.

The Orange Section

  • Color Change: Change to orange yarn by lifting your hook, inserting it back into the two loops, and pulling the orange yarn through. Make one single crochet with the new color, then pull and cut the white yarn before tying the ends together and trimming them.
  • Round 6: Single crochet one (since you already made a single crochet to change color), increase, single crochet seven, increase, and single crochet four.
  • Round 7: Single crochet three, increase, single crochet eight, increase, and single crochet four.
  • Round 8: Single crochet three, increase, single crochet nine, increase, and single crochet five.
