These easy crochet fingerless gloves are the perfect project for beginners who want to create something practical and stylish. Using simple stitches like single crochet and half double crochet, this pattern creates a snug ribbed cuff with a soft and flexible hand section.

The thumb hole is built seamlessly, making the gloves both functional and comfortable to wear. Whether you want to keep your hands warm while still being able to use your phone or you’re looking for a thoughtful handmade gift, this pattern is quick, customizable, and works beautifully with different yarns and hook sizes.

Materials

  • Cotton yarn (or any yarn of choice)
  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook (optional for hand section)

Create the Ribbing (Wrist Cuff)

  • Make a slip knot and chain 20 for a longer cuff or 15 for a shorter cuff
  • Skip the first chain and single crochet into the next stitch, continue across
  • Chain 1 and turn
  • Work single crochet in the back loop only across each row
  • Repeat until you have 36 rows for a small size or more for a larger size

Step 2 Join the Cuff

  • Fold the ribbing so short ends meet
  • Join with slip stitches or single crochets through loops
  • Flip the work right side out

Start the Hand Section

  • Chain 1 and make 36 half double crochets around the cuff edge
  • Slip stitch to join
  • Chain 1 and continue half double crochets for four rows

  • Switch to 3.5 mm hook if desired
  • Work half double crochets in the round until you have eight rows total

Create the Thumb Opening

  • After completing eight rows, chain 1
  • Work half double crochets until 10 stitches remain
  • Skip 10 stitches and slip stitch to join to form the opening

Finish the Glove Top

  • Chain 1 and make half double crochets around the new smaller circumference
  • Continue for four rows

Final Edging

  • Chain 1 and slip stitch all the way around the glove top edge
  • For the thumb opening, join yarn and work 10 half double crochets
  • Slip stitch to join

  • Chain 1 and make a round of slip stitches around the thumb hole
  • Fasten off and weave in all ends
