Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Bernat Baby Blanket, 100% Polyester, Super Chunky (Size 6), in Confetti color from the Little Critters Collection.
- Crochet Hook: Size 9 mm, despite the label recommendation of 8 mm.
Pattern Overview
- This pattern will guide you through making a blanket using a simple double crochet stitch.
- It is adjustable in size, based on the chain's initial length and the desired dimensions of the blanket.
Starting Your Blanket

Begin with a slip knot:
- Wrap yarn around two fingers to create a loop, cross it behind, pull the yarn through to create a loop, insert the crochet hook, and tighten gently.
- Chain 50 for a smaller blanket or Chain 60 for a larger one using two skeins of yarn. This will be the width of your blanket.
- Turn your work to prepare for the first row of double crochets.

Double Crochet Stitch:
- Start your first row by doing a double crochet stitch into the fourth chain from the hook. (Note: The loop on the hook does not count as a chain.)
- To do a double crochet: Yarn over, insert the hook into the chain, yarn over, pull through the chain (three loops on hook), yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through the remaining two loops.
- Continue adding a double crochet into each chain space across the full length of the chain.
- Once you reach the end, turn your work over.

Building the Blanket:
- Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet).
- Skip the first chain space (since the chain 3 covers it) and double crochet into the second chain space and each space across to the end.
- At the end of each row, ensure to double crochet into the top of the turning chain to maintain the correct stitch count.
- Repeat these steps, building row upon row until you reach your desired blanket height.

Changing Yarns (If necessary):
- To add a new skein of yarn, simply continue with a new yarn without cutting the old one immediately.
- Weave in the ends later as you crochet.

Finishing Your Blanket:
- Once desired dimensions are achieved, cut your working yarn, leaving a tail.

- Yarn over and pull through the loop on your hook and tighten to secure the end.
- Weave in any loose ends using a crochet hook, working them through several stitches to secure.
