Simple & Adorable Crochet Heart Applique Pattern

Making a crochet heart applique is a fun and sweet project that adds a personal touch to anything you attach it to. Picture this: with just yarn and a hook, you can whip up a little piece of love. Whether you're sprucing up a bag, making a thoughtful gift, or simply collecting cute hearts, this project is for you.

Materials Needed:

  • Cotton yarn (or any yarn of your choice)
  • Matching crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle
  • Optional: little petals for decoration

Pattern Instructions:

Round 1:

  • Start with a magic ring.
  • Crochet 3 chain stitches.
  • Make 3 triple crochet stitches into the ring.
  • Crochet 3 double crochet stitches into the ring.
  • Chain 1.
  • Again, make 3 double crochet stitches into the ring.
  • Crochet 3 triple crochet stitches into the ring.
  • Pull the yarn, then make 2 chain stitches.
  • Complete the round with a slip stitch into the ring.

  • The first round is finished.

Round 2:

  • Crochet in the hole from the previous round, making 3 single crochet stitches.
  • In the next 2 stitches, crochet 2 single crochet stitches in each (total 4 single crochets).
  • Then, crochet one single crochet in the next 4 stitches.
  • In the hole, make one half double crochet, chain 1, and another half double crochet.
  • Next, crochet one single crochet in the next 4 stitches.
  • Crochet 2 single crochets in the next 2 stitches.
  • In the hole, make 2 single crochet stitches.
  • Complete the round with a slip stitch in the first stitch.

  • Cut the yarn, leaving a tail, and lightly pull it.

Finishing Steps:

  • Pull the yarn on the backside to close the initial magic ring.
  • Sew both yarn ends on the backside.

  • Your head is now finished.

To Use as a Keychain:

  • If you want to attach it as a keychain, use the sewing needle and yarn to add a little petal or any decoration of your choice.
  • From the bottom of the head, bring the needle to the middle and back down through the same place.

  • Adjust the length of the yarn loop that will attach to the keyring as needed.
