Materials

  • Cotton yarn: red, white, and green
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Kiss lock frame
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Black beads for seeds

  • Single Crochet (SC)
  • Single Crochet Increase
  • Half Double Crochet (HDC)
  • Back Loop Only (BLO)

Instructions

Crochet Coin Purses 1

Measure the Kiss Lock

  • Measure the outer diameter of your kiss lock to determine coin purse size.

Crochet Red Circle (Flesh)

  • Begin with a magic ring.
  • Work increasing rounds using single crochet until the diameter matches your measurement.
  • Repeat the same for the second side.

Add White Round (Rind Inner)

  • Attach white yarn.
  • Crochet one increasing round using SC.

Add Green Round (Outer Rind)

  • Switch to green yarn.
  • Work one round of HDC with increases.

Mark Sewing Range

  • Align crochet circle with the kiss lock.
  • Use pins or markers to mark the stitches where the kiss lock will attach.

Crochet Volume Section

  • Between the marked points, work HDC in BLO to create depth.

Attach to Kiss Lock

  • Sew the curved top section of the circle to one side of the kiss lock.
  • Repeat for the second piece on the other side of the kiss lock.

(Optional) Add Beads

  • Use black beads to simulate watermelon seeds.

Join Both Sides

  • With the wrong sides facing in, sew the two sides together using BLO of the green HDC edge.

2nd Pattern

 

Instructions

Measure Kiss Lock

  • Measure the frame to calculate desired diameter.

Crochet Center with Color Changes

  • Alternate white and orange/yellow in increasing SC rounds to create a citrus segment look.
  • Repeat for the second piece.

Solid White Round

  • Crochet one round of SC using white yarn.

Orange Peel Border

  • Switch to orange yarn.
  • Crochet one round of HDC stitches.

Volume Section

  • As with the watermelon, work HDC in BLO between marked points.

Attach to Kiss Lock

  • Sew crocheted piece to kiss lock.
  • Repeat for second piece.

Join Sides

  • Stitch both pieces together using BLO technique.

Optional Leaf Attachment (Lemon/Orange Purse)

Steps:

  • Chain 8.
  • Row 1 (first side of leaf):
  • Slip Stitch in 2nd ch from hook.
  • SC, HDC, DC, TRC, DC, HDC, SC across.
  • Row 2 (opposite side of chain):
  • SC, HDC, DC, TRC, DC, HDC, SC, Slip Stitch.
  • Sew the leaf to the top of the kiss lock.
