Materials
- Scrap yarn
- Crochet hook (4.5 mm recommended)
- Two stitch markers
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Waistband
- Start: Do a slip knot and chain 8.
- Row 1: Half double crochet into the second stitch from the hook and continue to the end of the row.
- Row 2: Chain one, turn your work, and do slip stitches into the back loop only until the end.

- Row 3: Chain one, turn your work, and do half double crochets into the back loop only.
- Repeat: Continue alternating Row 2 and Row 3 until the waistband is long enough to go around your waist and over your hips.
- Connect Ends: Take both ends of the waistband, put your hook through one side and then the other, yarn over, and pull yarn through to make a slip stitch.
- Continue slip stitching until the end to connect the waistband.
Main Shorts Part
- Attach New Color: Attach a new color of yarn to the shorts.
- Cut the previous yarn and make a knot.
- Row 1 (Double Crochet): Chain two and do double crochets all around the waistband, placing stitches evenly.
- Changing Color: To change color seamlessly, complete only half of the double crochet (leaving two loops on the hook), then take the new color and pull it through the last two loops.
- Tie the loose ends together for security.
You can hide the yarn by wrapping it around when doing double crochet.

- Connect Row: After reaching the end, connect the end to the beginning with a slip stitch.
- Row 2 (Double Crochet): Chain two and continue doing double crochets.
- Continue Rows: Keep doing double crochets until you reach the beginning of your bum curve (7 rows for this section).
Increases for Bum Curve
- Mark Sides: Flatten the shorts and mark the sides with stitch markers.
- Increase Row: Start with normal double crochets.
- When you reach a stitch marker, do an increase by working two double crochets into the same marked stitch.
- Move the stitch marker to the new stitch for the next row.
- Continue normal double crochets until the second stitch marker, then repeat the increase.
- Repeat: Continue doing double crochets with increases on each side until the shorts reach the middle of your bum (7 rows with increases).
- Normal Rows (No Increases): Stop doing increases and continue doing normal double crochets without any increases until your shorts are in line with your crotch (4 rows for this section).
Legs
- Find Middle: Fold the shorts and find the middle on both sides.
- Mark one middle point (where the waistband was connected) and calculate the opposite stitch for the second middle point, marking it with a stitch marker.
- Chain for Crotch: Chain 10 in the middle (adjust based on your size).
- Connect: Connect the chain to the other side with a slip stitch.

First Leg:
- Chain two and make double crochets into the next stitch.
- Continue doing double crochets all around one leg, including into each chain on the middle string.
- Connect the end to the beginning with a slip stitch.
- Recommendation: Try on the shorts at this point to check the fit of the crotch area.
- Continue doing double crochet rows for the leg until it reaches your desired length (3 rows for each leg).
- Second Leg: Repeat the process for the second leg.
Border (Optional)
- Attach Yarn: Fasten off the yarn from the previous row and tie new yarn approximately in the middle of the crotch stitch to hide the beginning and end of the row.

Shell Edge:
- Make a single crochet.
- Skip the next stitch and do five double crochets into the second stitch.
- Skip one stitch again and do a single crochet into the following stitch.
- Repeat the pattern: single crochet, skip a stitch, five double crochets into one stitch, skip a stitch, then single crochet.
- Finish: Connect the end to the beginning of the row with a slip stitch and fasten it off.
- Repeat: Do the same for the other leg.

Waist Strap (Optional)
- Make Strap: Do a slip knot and chain as many chains as needed to go around your waist with a bit extra for tying.
- Fasten Off: Fasten it off after reaching the desired length.
- Weave In: Weave the strap into the waistband, skipping a few stitches at a time. You can use a crochet hook, tapestry needle, or even your fingers if your tension is loose.
