Crochet Octagonal Blouse

Materials
- Yarn of choice (cotton, acrylic, or blend)
- Crochet hook suitable for yarn size
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
The Starting Chain
- Start with a slip knot
- Chain 3
- In the second chain from the hook, make 1 single crochet
- Repeat [Ch 3, 1 SC into the second chain from the hook] until chain measures back width

Round 1 Forming the Four Corners
- Turn work and chain 2 for height
- In the first small loop make [3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC] for the first corner
- Work groups of 3 DC in each loop across the back
- In the last loop repeat the corner [3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC, Ch 2, 3 DC]
- Work 3 DC groups into each loop along the opposite side until back at start
- Close the round by completing 3 DC in the starting loop and join with HDC into top of Ch 2

Subsequent Rounds
- Begin each round with Ch 2 and 3 DC into corner space
- In each corner work a leque [3 DC, Ch 1, 3 DC]
- Along the sides work 3 DC groups into spaces between previous 3 DC groups without chaining
- Repeat around with leque in corners and 3 DC groups along sides
- Complete each round by finishing the first leque with 3 DC and join with HDC into top of Ch 2

Finishing the Blouse
- Continue rounds until front panels and sleeves reach desired size
- For sizing continue increasing until front panels nearly meet
- Change colors by completing join with new yarn
- Fold work and stitch shoulder seams to close sleeves and form armholes

- Add body length by working in rounds along the bottom edge
- Add sleeve cuffs or trims by working in rounds around armholes
