Materials

  • Dooran Art 100g acrylic yarn in three colors
  • Crochet hook suitable for medium weight yarn

Stitch Used

  • V Stitch made by working double crochet chain one double crochet in the same stitch or space

Stylish V Stitch 1

Back Panel

  • Make a slip knot and chain to the width of your shirt length, for example chain 110 for approximately 22 inches
  • Skip two chains and work a V stitch into the third chain
  • Skip two chains and work a V stitch into the next chain
  • Repeat this pattern across the row
  • Chain three and turn
  • Work a V stitch into the chain one space of each V stitch across
  • Finish each row with one double crochet in the last stitch
  • Repeat rows until desired length is reached

Back Panel Color Sequence Example Medium Size

  • Work nine rows with color one and fasten off
  • Join color two and work four rows
  • Join color three and work nine rows
  • Continue nine more rows with color three
  • Switch back to color two and work four rows
  • Finish with nine rows of color one

Front Panels

  • Make two separate panels using the same stitch pattern as the back panel
  • Use the same starting chain count as the back panel
  • Work the color sequence nine rows color one, four rows color two, nine rows color three
  • Complete two identical panels

Stylish V Stitch 3

Joining Panels

  • Place panels with right sides facing inward
  • Join yarn at the shoulder edge
  • Work one single crochet into the front panel edge
  • Work one single crochet into the back panel edge
  • Chain one
  • Repeat across to form shoulder seams
  • Measure down from shoulders for armholes and place stitch markers
  • Join yarn at the bottom edge
  • Work one single crochet in the back panel space
  • Work one single crochet in the front panel space
  • Chain one
  • Repeat up to the stitch marker

Stylish V Stitch 4

Armhole And Sleeves

  • Chain one and work single crochet evenly around the armhole
  • Slip stitch to join and fasten off
  • Join second color and chain three
  • Skip two stitches and work a V stitch in the next stitch
  • Repeat around and slip stitch to join
  • Continue working V stitch rounds for a total of five rounds
  • Chain one and work single crochet in each stitch for two rounds
  • Fasten off and repeat for the second sleeve

Collar

  • Place stitch markers seven inches from the center opening on both front panels
  • Join yarn at the center back of the neckline
  • Chain three and work V stitch evenly around the neckline
  • Place one V stitch per row section on the back panel
  • Stop at the stitch marker and work one double crochet
  • Chain three and turn
  • Work V stitch in each V stitch across
  • On the next row add one extra double crochet at the beginning to increase
  • Continue until five rows are complete or more for a wider collar
  • Fasten off

Stylish V Stitch 5

Front Edging And Finishing

  • Join color one at the top corner of the front opening
  • Chain three and work V stitch evenly along the opening
  • Chain one and turn
  • Work single crochet in each stitch
  • Fasten off and repeat on the opposite side
  • Work one round of single crochet around the collar if desired
  • Secure all loose ends
  • Optionally add a single crochet round to the bottom hem
  • Attach buttons if preferred
