Materials:

  • Four-ply undyed natural cotton yarn (size number one yarn)
  • 3mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Buttons

Pattern:

Chain Foundation:

  • Measure from shoulder to shoulder and add extra length if desired for a loose fit.
  • Make foundation chains until desired measurement is reached.

Row 1 - Double Crochet (V Stitch):

  • Start with a slip knot and make foundation chains.
  • Make double crochet V stitches (skip 2 chains, make 1 DC, ch 1, 1 DC in same space).
  • Repeat V stitches across the row.

Row 2 onwards - V Stitch Repeat:

  • Chain 2, turn your work, and make 1 DC in same stitch.
  • Create V stitches in each chain space across the row.

Back Panel:

  • Continue repeating row 2 until desired length is achieved for the back panel.

Front Panels:

  • Divide the number of chains made for the back panel in half for the front panel.
  • Follow the same pattern used for the back panel.

Assembly:

  • Align and connect front and back panels together at the shoulders using slip stitch.

Sleeves:

  • Start at the bottom of the armhole and create V stitches around the armhole.
  • Repeat V stitches for desired length of sleeves.

Ribbing for Bottom:

  • Chain foundation, make single crochets in back loop only and create a rib pattern for the bottom.

Ribbing for Collar:

  • Create rib pattern for the collar by making single crochets in back loop only, adding slip stitches for structure.

Stripe Pattern for Center:

  • Create a ribbing pattern with buttonholes as needed.

Finishing:

  • Continue ribbing pattern until desired length.
  • Add buttons to buttonholes.
  • Complete sleeve ribbing.
