- Chain 3 to begin the CDC row
- Skip one stitch, double crochet in the next, then cross back and double crochet in the skipped stitch
- Continue this crossed double crochet pattern across the row and place one double crochet in the last stitch
- Work a single crochet row with 72 stitches
- Repeat one CDC row and one SC row for a total of 32 rows ending on a CDC row

Dividing for Armhole and Shaping the Back
- Single crochet across 32 stitches and stop
- Turn and continue repeating CDC and SC rows on this short section for 18 rows
- Work nine crossed double crochets then skip two stitches and place one double crochet in the next stitch
- Turn and single crochet across
- Work eight crossed double crochets then skip two stitches and double crochet in the last stitch
