Crochet Butterfly Top

Materials
- Cotton yarn approximately 150 to 200 grams depending on size
- 3.0 mm or 3.5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Yarn needle

Cups (Make 2)
- Start with a slip knot and chain 10 to 12 depending on desired cup width
- Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook and in each chain across
- Increase at one end of the row by placing multiple double crochets in the same stitch to shape the wing
- Work shell stitches by placing 5 double crochets in a single stitch to create the scalloped butterfly effect
- Continue alternating rows of double crochet and shell stitches while increasing until the cup comfortably covers the chest area

Joining the Wings
- Place both finished cups side by side with right sides facing up
- Join the cups at the bottom center using slip stitches or single crochet to form the butterfly center

Bottom Border
- Attach yarn at one bottom corner of the joined wings
- Work a row of single crochet or double crochet evenly across the entire bottom edge
- Add 2 to 3 additional rows of double crochet to create a stable base for the top

Straps and Back Ties
- Attach yarn at the top peak of each butterfly wing
- Chain 80 to 100 stitches for each shoulder strap or until the desired length is reached
- Attach yarn at the outer mid section of each wing
- Chain 120 to 150 stitches for adjustable back ties

- Optional finishing round of single crochet or picot stitches worked evenly around the entire perimeter for a clean edge
