Crochet Twisted Top
Materials:
- 200-gram ball of medium weight yarn (around 560 meters)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- Measuring tape
- Darning needle
- Scissors
Pattern
Brac Cup (Start with one side):
- Measure from your underarm over the top of your bust to the cleavage to determine the starting chain length.
- Create a slip knot and chain a multiple of 2 plus 1 based on your measurement. For the example, the creator made 49 chains.
- In the second chain from the hook, make a single crochet. You'll lose one stitch to create an even number for the pattern.
- Alternate between single and double crochet across the row, starting with a single crochet and ending with a double crochet.
- Chain one and turn. For the next row, place a single crochet where you have a double crochet from the previous row, and a double crochet where you have a single crochet.
- Repeat the pattern until the piece can cover the desired area of your bust.
Decreasing For Cup Shape:
- To decrease at the end of a row, skip the last stitch before you turn the work.
- Start the next row by skipping the first stitch, then continue the alternation pattern (single crochet over double crochet, double crochet over single crochet) across the row.
- Decrease by skipping the last two stitches at the end of the row.
- Repeat the decrease process until you reach the desired size for the cup. Ensure that one edge stays straight while the other decreases.
Joining the Brac Cups:
- Work the same pattern for the second cup.
- Put the right sides together (one side down, one side up) and align the middle points of both cups.
- Use the darning needle to sew the cups together through all four layers.
- Securely tie off the ends and flip the work right side out.
Decreasing for Waist
- Attach yarn to the side of the cup and continue the stitch alternation pattern.
- For easier decreasing, you may start rows with a double crochet and end rows with a single crochet.
- Skip the first stitch at the beginning of a row and the last stitch at the end of a row to decrease.
Straps:
- Create long chains using double crochets and chains to tie at the back. You may create these by chaining two, then making a double crochet, repeating until the strap is of the desired length.
Working on the Down Part:
- After attaching the yarn just before your two double crochet chains, make a row of double crochet stitches.
- Continue making one double crochet per row, making sure the middle part between the cups is secure.
Ruffles:
- To begin the increase for ruffles, chain two and turn.
- Make one double crochet in the first stitch, then two double crochets in the next stitch.
- Alternate between one double crochet in one stitch and two double crochets in the next across the row.
Straps (Continuation):
- Chain two, then turn and make one double crochet in the next stitch.
- Continue this pattern until the strap is long enough to tie at the back.
Finishing Touches:
- Weave in any loose ends.
- Secure all joins and seams to ensure durability.
