Materials
- 175 to 200g of sport weight yarn (Category 3)
- 4 mm crochet hook
The Back Piece
- Chain 46
- Sc in the second chain from the hook and across for 45 sc
- Chain 1 turn and work Thistle Stitch across
- Chain 1 turn and repeat the Thistle Stitch row
- Continue repeating until the back measures 6.5 inches tall
- Chain 1 turn slip stitch in the first 4 stitches then work Thistle Stitch across leaving last 4 stitches unworked
- Chain 1 turn and continue Thistle Stitch until the back measures 11 inches total

Right Front
- Chain 24
- Sc in the second chain from the hook and across for 23 sc
- Work Thistle Stitch until the piece measures 6.5 inches
- Chain 1 turn slip stitch in the first 4 stitches then continue Thistle Stitch
- Chain 2 turn skip first 2 stitches begin Thistle Stitch in the third stitch
- Work 3 rows even in Thistle Stitch
- Repeat the decrease row followed by 3 even rows until the piece measures 11 inches with 11 stitches left

Left Front
- Make the same as Right Front but work the armhole slip stitches on the opposite edge
- Work neckline decreases on the opposite side to mirror the right front
Sleeves
- Chain 34
- Sc in the second chain from the hook for 33 sc
- Work one row of Thistle Stitch
- Chain 2 turn and work dc sc sc dc in the first stitch then Thistle Stitch across
- Work 4 rows even in Thistle Stitch
- Repeat the increase row on the opposite edge then 4 even rows until reaching 41 stitches
- Continue Thistle Stitch until sleeve measures 6.25 inches

Assembly
- Whip stitch the 11-stitch shoulders of front pieces to the back with outsides together
- Sew sleeves into the 4.5 inch armhole openings with outsides together
- Sew side seams and underarm seams
- Turn sweater right side out

Button Band
- Sc evenly up the right front across the neck and down the left front
- Chain 1 turn and sc around
- Chain 1 turn work 3 sc then repeat chain 2 skip 2 stitches 4 sc to create 5 buttonholes
- Work 2 more rows of sc working 2 sc into each chain 2 space
- Sew 5 buttons on the left front to match buttonholes
