Head of the Turtle

 

Rounds 1–5:

  • Start with one chain stitch.
  • Work 18 single crochets. Mark the first single crochet.
  • End each round with one slip stitch to join.
  • Repeat the same steps for Round 5.

Installing the Eyes

  • Stretch the loop and remove the hook.
  • Ensure the slip stitches are at the back of the head.
  • Take out safety eyes and backing pieces.
  • Insert eyes between rounds 3 and 4, spaced one stitch apart symmetrically.
  • Turn the work over and secure with backing pieces.

Round 6

  • Begin with one chain stitch.
  • Repeat the set "1 single crochet, 1 decrease" six times.
  • To decrease:
  • Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop.
  • Insert into next stitch, yarn over, pull up another loop (3 loops on hook).
  • Yarn over and pull through all three loops.
  • End with one slip stitch.

Round 7

  • Start with one chain stitch.

Stuffing the Head
