Materials:

  • Crochet threads in dark blue, light blue, and green
  • A 1.9mm crochet hook
  • Golden and pearl beads
  • Flatback golden beads

Pattern:

Round 1 (Dark Blue):

  • Start with a magic circle.
  • Chain 2 (acts as the first half double crochet).
  • Make 2 half double crochets into the magic circle.
  • Make 5 double crochets into the magic circle.
  • Make a treble crochet into the magic circle.
  • Mirror the stitches: 5 double crochets, then 3 half double crochets.
  • Slip stitch to the top of the initial chain 2 to close the round.
  • Finish off, leaving a tail for weaving.

Round 2 (Light Blue):

  • Join the light blue yarn to the first double crochet of the previous round.
  • Chain 1, then single crochet in the same stitch and the next 4 stitches.
  • In the treble crochet stitch, make a single crochet, chain 1, and another single crochet.
  • Make a single crochet in the next 8 stitches.
  • Create a medium-sized picot, then single crochet.
  • Single crochet into the remaining stitches and slip stitch to join the round.
  • Finish off, weaving in the ends.

In Round 3 (Green):

  • Join the green thread in the slip stitch space from the previous round.
  • Single crochet, then a small picot.
  • Follow the pattern of alternating single crochets and picots, increasing the size of the picots as you work towards the center. Repeat the sequence mirrored for the second half.
  • Slip stitch to join the round and weave in the ends.

Finishing Touches:

  • Glue a flatback golden bead to the center.
  • Make a long chain with dark blue thread for the rakhi band.
  • Weave in the ends, or secure with a knot.
  • Add golden and pearl beads to either side of the feather.
  • Optionally, add a tassel to the end of each band link for decoration.
